THE JOB 
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is a "cradle-to-grave" waste management system that minimizes hazardous wastes risks at their source and controls disposal. RCRA Compliance/Enforcement Officers coordinate investigations of major hazardous waste sites for possible violations. They determine which alleged violations to investigate. They prepare enforcement documents and negotiate proper remedial activities with companies and coordinate all compliance/enforcement activities with other government agencies responsible for hazardous waste.

Annual Wage Entry Level: Entry Level: GS Levels 5/7 GS Level 5 Begins at $19,807 GS Level 7 Begins at $24,534 Experienced: GS Levels 9/11/12 GS Level 9 Begins at $30,012 GS Level 11 Begins at $36,313 GS Level 12 Begins at $43,522
REQUIREMENTS
Skills - Understand and apply EPA laws and regulations - Use technical knowledge to do investigations and inspections - Establish facts and draw conclusions based on information gathered - Use both written and spoken communication to influence public officials, the public, and those responsible for hazardous waste Training/Requirements - B.A. Degree in Public Administration, Conservation and Natural Resources, Environmental Resources, or related fields - Experience as Environmental/ Compliance Specialists
