Truck Dispatchers coordinate the movement of trucks and freight between hazardous waste pickup and disposal sites. They take pickup orders from customers and assign drivers and trucks, plot routes and plan pickup/ disposal schedules. They also keep daily records, logs and schedules.
Hourly Wage: $4.25 - $19.00
Skills -- Use complicated record-keeping steps; -- Recognize errors in records; -- Plan the activity of others; -- Stay alert while doing important but routine or repetitive work. High Tech : Computer-aided dispatching systems increase productivity and may dampen job growth. However, only larger firms can afford these systems, keeping the pool of dispatchers with computer skills low. Training/Requirements -- High school diploma preferred; -- Related experience such as truck driving is helpful.
