Network (Local Area Network and Wide Area Network) Training and Support Specialists train customers on the use of local or wide area networks. They develop step-by-step written guides for activities such as the use of E-Mail, shared data files, and other options available on network systems. Informally, they troubleshoot specific problems presented by end users. They may do special projects assigned by Network Analysts and/or Network Managers. The training they provide may be given to large groups, such as when a network is first introduced, or one-on-one from the user's terminal.
Monthly Wage Range, all Levels: $3,600 - 4,500/mo.
Job Skills Needed: - Knowledge in one or more network hardware systems, network-related software such as E-mail, client server applications, and network operating systems - Ability to teach others - Analytical and problem-solving skills - Mechanical aptitude - Ability to keep accurate repair and troubleshooting logs, as well as keep accurate records of equipment registration information. Training/ Education Requirements: - 4-year degree usually required - Experience in training often required - Broad knowledge of LAN/WAN technology, minicomputers, microcomputers, supporting software and operating systems for each - Ongoing training through vendors or at local college is required to keep up with changing technologies.
