Sales Representatives in the network industry sell hardware and software related to local and wide area network systems. Their products include operating system software, file servers, network software for personal computers, including E-mail and adapters. These workers use various sales methods such as television or radio advertising, direct mail or telephone, take advantage of leads and employ "cold" call sales tactics. They maintain direct or telephone contact with existing customers to understand their needs and effectively communicate the benefits of appropriate products and services to meet those needs. They maintain accurate and thorough customer records via automated systems.
Hourly Wages in California: Entry Range: $5.00 - 15.00 New to the job - Experienced: $6.00 - 29.00 After 3 Years with Firm: $7.00 - 48.00
Job Skills Needed: - Ability to sell - Knowledge of one or more current telecommunications systems and ancillary equipment, their functions and benefits - Cost estimating skills - Excellent written and oral skills - Knowledge of contract, bidding and proposal procedures Training/Requirements: - High school diploma required Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business a plus - Solid background and experience in sales, preferably in electrical or communications equipment or schools helpful
