Fitness/Wellness Coordinators provide fitness and wellness programs, classes, and information to employees. Coordinators arrange health fairs and help employees identify their health risk factors (e.g., high blood pressure, high cholesterol.) If needed they provide information and support for reducing the risk. Coordinators arrange aerobics, exercise, weight lifting, and smoking cessation classes when on-site space is available. They suggest walking programs and provide nutrition/lifestyle workshops and information (such as pamphlets and videos). The Coordinators may also arrange health club discounts for employees. A basic structure for health improvement programs is (1) inform employees of the programs and information available, (2) identify employee needs, and (3) gain and maintain management support so they will encourage employees to feel comfortable and willing to participate in the programs.
