Special Procedures Technologists, CT Scan prepare the scanning equipment and position the patient on the x-ray table with the proper shielding devise. The Technologists then enter data into the computer, programming what type of scan to perform, scan time, etc. The test results are reviewed for quality completion and then the x-ray film is delivered to the Radiologist. The Technologists monitor the patient's condition during and after the scan to ensure safety and comfort.
Salaries differ from one district to another, by additional education, and by amount of work or experience the technologists have. Special Procedures Technologists, CT Scan with no experience may earn an hourly wage between $10.00 to $14.75. With two years experience they usually earn an hourly wage of $11.25 to $15.00, and Technologists with three or more years of experience may make $12.75 to $17.00 per hour.
